ive heard some people say that the parents should of stopped the pregnancy going ahead.... for one thing the girl hid the pregnancy, and even if the parents did know and made her terminate could you Imogen the up-raw from the media then? i just really feel for the boy.

I can see your point entirely Zoe. You have a lot to do with children and have certainly produced the 'other side of the coin' which on reflection I can see is right. What I don't think is right is allowing them to be interviewed on TV. To really have your child's interests at heart you should protect them from the media circus. If the media had already got hold of the story one of the parents should have been interviewed and calmly laid what fact they wanted known on the table and explained how they would be helping the young couple etc. The media are producing them as rather ignorant freaks and the parents should not have let that happen. Lyn...i totally agree. i dont think it was the best move for them to be interviewed either.

Apparently there are a few more boys spoken out and said that they could be the father of the baby. DNA tests next then?

OK so here's my opinion...... as Rose stated girls have babies young all the time and there isn't a big fuss over it because we all know it happens on a daily basis. im not saying its right but why is it so different? i dont think its the parents fault...you cant be with them 24 hours a day! these things unfortunately do happen! we dont know what the parents to the young boy or girl are like! at the end of the day the boy wouldn't of had much of a say in the matter anyway! it would of been down to the girl who was pregnant! im a teaching assistant in a primary school and i can tell you that there is only so much you can teach with regards to sexual education. we teach as much as we possibly can on the subject. weather they choose to listen is up to them! no-one has a right to condemn them for what they have done...we dont know what kind of parents they are going to be! their parents have obviously stood by them and that's their choice. like i said it was a mistake and they DO happen. cut them both a break. its going to be hard enough learning how to be parent at this age let alone media camping outside their house and everyone having a dig at them. its obviously a very rare thing for a lad so young to be a father otherwise there wouldn't be such a hoo har about it now . i dont think they give youth of today a bad name, I'll leave that to the scroats that try and nick my car on a regular basis! i dont think its disgusting! i just feel for him especially because he is the one everyone is gunning for. the boy made a mistake and that's it! sorry, i know i just felt shock at hearing this, so maybe over reacted - i have friends who are mums (but a few years older than me and one my age who was in a marriage in another religion when she was too young by legal standards in england) and get on very well with them as people whether or not i agree with their life choices. just media pays so much attention to young parents and people doing the wrong thing that it seems to be all young people are in the news / media spot light for and it doesn't seem right, when the rest of the world is doing the right thing and getting no attention for it, but some one does something wrong / has an accident and they've got 30 microphones jammed in their faces, and cameras on them every where they go wanting to know all about it as if its never happened before. i don't blame the kids, no doubt if it happened to my friends / famil i'd stick up for them to the bitter end even if i didn't agree with it, its the tv companies that wind me up, every news show i see seems to show the same as all the others just through a different camera, why can't they seperate out the stories and have different ones on different show and times? so we don't get hours and hours of the same unfortunate people who probably don't want the attention.

Do you think one of the main things is that he looks so young..
If he had been a really strapping big brawny 13 year old that there would have been as much fuss?

Looking at his picture and when I saw him on TV, I really wondered if he had it in him - he doesn't look as though he had matured (in that direction) enough to father a child! I hadn't heard that about others stepping forward, DNA tests will clear that up. That money then should be put in trust for the baby until he is 18. Read this - www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2238252.eceEach time I see that wee boy I just can't believe he fathered a child!!

I agree with Liz as well!! The papers and media are making a field day out of it. I do wonder if DNA tests will be made to make sure he has fathered the baby.

I think the DNA test is a good thing. The girl is saying that he is the father. But with others coming forward its probably for the best that the DNA test takes place.
