I think the pilot of the plane should be given a top award for how he managed to land his crippled plane with all those passengers on board in the Hudson River. Outstanding piloting - here is a link - www.nydailynews.com/news/2009/01/15/2009-01-15_us_airways_airplane_crashes_in_hudson_ri.htmlIt could just as easily gone the other way and all those passengers would have been killed. He is some pilot!! Well done to Chesley Sullenberger, he is indeed a hero:)

He is amazing and I think he writes a lot of safety issues for the airlines.

He certainly is a true Hero & as you both say Rose & Eunice he certainly does deserve a Medal & recognition for what he achived. I did hear on the news that he is a trainer for pilots teaching them how to stay calm & land a plane in the most difficult circumstances. He certainly does know what he is talking about

Yes, it would be nice if our Government gave him some sort of honour as well. Let him know how brave and skilful pilot he is. It could have ended so differently!! To see the picture with all the passenges standing on the wing of the plane was really outstanding!!

He did do well and to think he was the last of the plane and checked all the aisles is very brave indeed. Thanks for sharing that Rose. This thread won't help mickis fear of flying lol

I saw it from the beginning, as it interrupted my TV show, he is getting a medal, plus Pres. Bush & New Pres. Obama personally called him to thank him for his cool head. He is not a man for the spotlight though, he says he was just doing his job ;D

Aw Donna I think he is wonderful - to save all those passengers in the way he did was truly remarkable. He is a true hero and I am glad to read that he is getting a medal and both President Bush and the new president called him. It took some courage. I saw a bit of it over here on our news and it was good to see all the passengers standing on that wing!!
Hope you are hail and hearty.
Take care.
