I'm all for leaving wild animals in the wild and protecting their habitats but some of the agencies and groups are going too far. On the reptile specific forum i go on there is a lot of trouble over an up coming show in Doncaster where hundreds of people were going to see, buy and sell reptiles. The 'protection' agencies have taken the planners all the way to court over this to stop any one selling and perhaps even stop the show from happening.
LINK REMOVED. The poster here has added a turtles/tortoises and amphibians thread too in different parts of the forum.
I don't ask anyone to join the site but i felt this may end up being relevant to here too. If this is in the wrong place or breaks any rules by been linked to another forum, sorry, but it's the only place i've come across the information so clearly.
First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Sorry Lindsey but as you are well aware links to other forums arent allowed. We cant make exceptions, it has to be a blanket ruling im afraid.

sorry micki.
the court has decided on the show can buy & sell but it won't be the last timethis ort of problem happens. Animal rights groups need a snse of scale, and the bad 'breeders' and 'keepers' need weeding out rather than those who care about their animals need leaving alone.

The staff in the pet shop I use, told me something about that - they said that soon pet shops won't be able to sell reptiles and I think they mentioned snakes would have to be licensed? Not sure if that is correct, I can't remember but your post Lindsey reminded me of it!
Good post and thanks for sharing.

I agree Lindsey. The groups need to employ common sense.
