This a piece about a young mum who died after giving birth to twins. As a Jehovah's Witnesses she signed a form to say that she didnt want a blood transfusion. Although im not religous it seems to me a bit extreme that she would refuse one. The twins will grow up without a mum, although they will have a good family network around them. thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article427045.ece

There are certainly a lot of bizarre occurrences that have arisen from religious beliefs, I'll say that much.

Don't understand a religion that will allow people to die, for the sake of giving them a blood transfussion.

I heard that on the news the other day. It is a very selfish act - she deprived the babies of their mother. It isn't the first time this has happened. A good few years ago, parents of their very ill child refused to let the authorities give him a blood transfusion. The medical authorities took it to court and they were granted permission by the court to give the boy the transfusion, against the parents wishes!

I agree with you brandykins It was a very selfish act on the Mothers part I think I would have prefered to have my children grow up with me around than be worried about being shunned by the other people in the religion. I really don't understand this religion surely you should preserve life it's so precious

You are right there, Liz. Preserving life is far more important than the feelings of others in any religion/sect!! Can you imagine the kids when grown up and ask why their Mum isn't around and being told she would rather die than take blood - or them for that matter! Disgusting!
Take care.

if u make the choice to bring a child into this world then u have to accept ur responsible to ensure its safety and upbringing. how is it responsible to bale out as sonn as the child is born? it makes me so angry. They may say they have a choice coz its their life, but wot choice did the baby have?? NONE!!!!

Could not agree more. Human life has to be the most important, the most sacred thing.

I don't believe in organized religions, but I do believe in the Greater Power of God, I believe in Jesus he despised temples & man made rules. He preached Love for all creatures of God, he lived the way he spoke. I believe there has been other direct beings from God also. Martin Luther King was a great example of preaching Love. But most great teachers of peace end up being killed.

I'm not a very religous person . It hurts to see how many people get hurt because of it. It seems to be the core of many wars and hatred in a lots of countries . Getting into very dangerous ground here

It's just { ignorance and intolerance which causes wars} because to many people follow like sheep to the biggest loudest fools out there. They don't have common sense to use their own mind. I believe in a greater power than mankind.
