If men want to sport with bulls do as they do in the Camargue. They tie ribbons on the horns and the men have to get near enough and pull a ribbon off the horn. Now those men are brave. www.tourisme.ville-arles.fr/us/a7/a7b.htm

good suggestion Lyn, altho the bull is probably still frightened at least it doesn't end up being physically tortured and killed.

How right you are but I can't see it happening. A lot of people who holiday in Spain would probably enjoy seeing a Bull fight so as they could brag about what they saw on when they got home. The rest are just apathetic, a high percent of people have an 'I'm alright Jack' attitude and think it's for someone else to sort out. It needs bring up time and time again to keep it in the foreground but I'm not sure what to do to go about that. Does anyone know what animal rights say about it and do they have any influence?

Many thanks for those excellent links, Lyn. I signed the petition. The sites I visited with petitions on them, were all closed!! That is good that one is still open.
Thanks for sharing and a Karma for you.

Sorry about the closed petitions. I signed the main one for what good it might do. I wish there was more that could be done but when such strong movements like league against cruel sports and WSPA etc can't stop it I doubt any one can. We would probably have more luck joining a cult and willing a curse on all the bullfighters.

Do you know what? and I'll be totally honest here - I couldn't watch the video or even read most of Micki's post - I just can't. I am so sensitive to animals being hurt - I see a flippin' pigeon hobbling on the street and I get upset! (I think I need some help)...

You're not alone, Lisa. It is horrific and I think those idiotic men who do that, should be chased round the arena by a lot of other men with swords!! See how they like to be chased!
It is barbaric.

No you are certainly not alone nor is there anything wrong with you. What is wrong is with the barbarians who carry out these deeds and the morons who enjoy watching it. While the majority of the worlds population is made up with those sort of people there is not a lot of hope it.

I wonder what the heck the attraction is for the spectators!! If no one went to see the bull-fights in the first place, there would be no bullfights!! Sick sick people!! I wonder if they would go to see humans being hounded like that!

Rose there is some sort of morbid curiosity in-built in some people (I fear the majority) You just have to look at the number of people rubber-necking an accident on a motorway. What are they hoping to see? They know they can't stop and help because the police and services are already there. I suspect they are hoping to see someone in pain and bleeding. I'm sure most of these people seem 'normal' and even nice if you meet them any other time.
Unfortunately the answer is probably yes if you went by the number of people who used to fill the Colosseum (it held 50,000) untold thousands of humans met there death there. I honestly think us sensitive souls are the minority.
